Compliance & Regulatory

Compliance encompasses the growing number of regulations that businesses must adhere to in order to operate successfully.

For many companies, navigating compliance can be complex and overwhelming. CO:PLAY serves as your trusted guide through the regulatory landscape—whether dealing with broadly applicable rules or industry-specific requirements.

Effective compliance advisory goes beyond just knowing the regulations; it requires a deep understanding of your business. At CO:PLAY, this insight forms the foundation of our consulting approach, ensuring compliance adds real value to your operations.

Our areas

GDPR

Personal data plays a major role in our increasingly globalized and digital society. Personal data regulation affects all companies, organizations, and authorities, and it is therefore a discipline that everyone must master. Many people process, store, and disclose personal data without having considered the necessary procedures. The area is subject to comprehensive regulation, including in particular the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and there is intensive enforcement of compliance with the rules.

CO:PLAY's team has extensive experience in advising everything from large international companies to local Danish companies, organizations, and authorities on how to meet the requirements of the GDPR and become compliant. This may involve implementing security measures, mapping data flows, conducting compliance analyses, handling data breaches, drawing up action plans, etc.

CO:PLAY offers a range of special GDPR products, including DPO services (professional and cost-effective handling of data protection officer requirements).

If you would like to know more, please contact Mandeep Singh Rathour, who is responsible for GDPR at CO:PLAY.

Marketing

CO:PLAY advises a large number of Danish and international companies on marketing rules and has extensive experience with all aspects of marketing law, including misleading and comparative advertising, consumer protection rules, unfair commercial practices, use of influencers and social media marketing, price marketing and discount claims, as well as green claims and sustainability marketing.

  • Advertising rules (hidden advertising, comparative advertising, advertising marking)
  • Price marketing
  • Good marketing practice and business practice
  • E-mail marketing and other direct marketing
  • Environment and ethics in marketing (greenwashing)
  • Use of personal data in marketing
  • Influencer marketing
  • Consumer Contract Act

The CO:PLAY team is often called upon to hold courses and give presentations on marketing regulations.

Financial regulation

At CO:PLAY, we have experience advising companies that use new technologies to develop and market financial services.

The financial services market is highly regulated, but at the same time characterized by a high level of technology. There are high demands on market players to ensure that their services comply with the applicable rules. Often, a license from the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority is required before a service can even be brought to market.

CO:PLAY assists both Danish companies in obtaining the relevant licenses from the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority and international companies that, on the basis of a license from another EU country, wish to market their financial services on the Danish market.

CO:PLAY can also help assess whether an activity requires a license from the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority and can assist with the efficient execution and organization of ongoing compliance tasks in line with the business's other processes.

Corporate housekeeping

CO:PLAY helps companies comply with all regulatory requirements so that the framework for your business is in place. It is in particular limited liability companies (e.g. private limited companies and public limited companies) which are subject to regulatory requirements.

CO:PLAY assists amongst others with:

  • Application for and maintenance of necessary business licences and authorisations
  • Establishment of the framework for the management of the company (e.g. rules of procedure and management instructions)
  • Management of the company's capital requirements, including capital losses, capital departures (e.g. distributions and capital reductions) and capital inflows
  • Conduct of shareholder meetings, board meetings and general meetings and necessary minutes and registration
  • Keeping a register of owners and registering ownership in public registers

Shareholders must be aware of decisions that may affect the welfare of the company. These may be decisions on mergers, acquisitions and liquidation that should not be implemented until shareholders have voted.
