When CO:PLAY was founded in 2021, the goal was to create a law firm tailored to technology companies and the digital world. Now the firm is taking the next step and launching a plan to become one of Denmark’s first AI-driven law firms.
Our goal is to be among the first in the industry to fully implement an AI-first approach across the organization. By making AI the driving force behind all standardized processes and workflows, our attorneys can devote more time to what clients truly need: legal analysis, strategy, and accountability.
The decision is based on a trend that is already well underway and will transform the industry in the coming years. CO:PLAY is already seeing that its clients are increasingly using AI themselves before contacting their lawyer. This is raising expectations for quick responses, rigorous quality assurance, and better value for money.
“We are at a pivotal turning point in the industry. You can either try to cling to old revenue models, or you can embrace the new reality. We have chosen the latter. If AI can solve a task better and faster, the customer shouldn’t have to pay us to do it manually,” says Michael Brandt, attorney and chairman of the board at CO:PLAY.
As a law firm born in the digital age, it is only natural for CO:PLAY to embrace this development. Since its inception, the firm has been paperless and digitally organized, with a dedicated tech leadership team. This infrastructure makes it possible to integrate AI directly into daily workflows.
Under the AI First plan, standardized tasks such as research, draft document preparation, contract analysis, and risk screening will increasingly be supported by AI. The company will also introduce new products to benefit customers, such as specialized AI agents. However, human judgment remains at the heart of the advisory services, emphasizes Michael Brandt.
“AI can analyze and generate drafts, but the technology cannot make legal decisions on its own. We can. Our job is to combine technology with expertise so that our clients receive faster service, a better overview, and advice that is quality-assured and practical.”
CO:PLAY also expects that this transition will impact both processes and pricing models. The goal is to charge more for value than for time, thereby adapting the law firm to a new market reality in which AI is changing clients’ expectations regarding legal advice.
